De Centrale (DC) embraces the opportunities of the industrial environment of the Overamstel area and adds an unprecedented new quality to the location: DC brings urbanity, life and new energy to a place that does not (yet) have this.
The mixed use building maximises the symbiosis between the various program
components of creative studios, ateliers, restaurant, club and hotel aimed at long-term stays. DC is not known as a hotel, but as a city in itself, where temporary living, working and recreation flow smoothly into one another. The building will operate as an incubator and will function as a catalyst in the development of the Overamstel area to a vibrant part of the city.

DC is inspired by the industrial identity of the Overamstel area, which is characterized by stacked volumes and the distinctive concrete plint. DC is not known as a hotel, but as a city in itself, where temporary living, working and recreation flow smoothly into one another. The building will operate as an incubator and will function as a catalyst in the development of the Overamstel area to a vibrant part of the city. DC is not aiming for 'tourists', but 'temporary residents' of the city: De Centrale.
The ground floor functions as an inviting city square tailored to the diverse needs of its users and activated by the surrounding program of an eventspace, incubator space, restaurant and creative offices.

The carefully designed facade consists of two prefab elements with integrated solar cells that function both as shading and energy production. The exemplary performance of the facade contributes to the BREEAM Outstanding label.
De Centrale will become the new meeting place for the creative community between the Zuid-as, the area around Amstelkwartier and Amsterdam Zuid-Oost. DC is a place for creatieve entrepreneurship, trade, culture and free thinking. A place where worlds and functions merge: manufacturing, work, co-creation, leisure, residential and event-hotel-office-living concepts. De Centrale is the ultimate urban and accessible meeting place: it invites and inspires the international design community.
The hotel with more dan 250 rooms focusses on extended stay guest. It offers larger rooms ranging from 20m2,
to fully equipped duplex apartments of 45m2.
