Penthouse Noorderplassen

Noorderplassen, NL | 2021 | private commission

Raumplan was invited to design a penthouse of 300 m2 for a private client in Noorderplassen, a natural reserve in the vicinity of Amsterdam. The design creates an arrangement of spaces with carefully designed proportions. Three technical shafts form the basis for this design. Instead of hiding these shafts, they are used as a Leitmotiv and emphasised by cladding them in natural stone. In this way the wall acts as a visually connecting spacial element; a gesture inspired by the House Müller of Adolf Loos.

The existing structure is one open space, lacking in scale and comfort. The main intention is to bring back a collection of rooms with carefully designed proportions and direction. Creating a layered experience of space.
