On the grounds of a former railway workshop in the heart of Utrecht, a new neighbourhood is taking shape. Wisselspoor builds on the industrial heritage of the site, and its history is woven into a layered urban fabric of streets, courtyards and shared gardens.
Our ambition is to create a place with an identity of its own: an inclusive community where starters, families and seniors live side by side, and where the car makes way for children playing and neighbours meeting.
Carefully fitted into its surroundings, the neighbourhood is designed not for handover, but for the generations that will call it home.
Wisselspoor comprises of 525 homes, ranging from city apartments to family homes with gardens. Phase 1 is completed, and the apartment buildings are now in development.

Because parking is placed underground, the ground level remains car-free and green. Climate-adaptive outdoor spaces, collective gardens and informal meeting places form the heart of the neighbourhood. In this way, the public space becomes a shared living room where community can grow naturally over time.
